Chiens et Gîte du Grand Nord » : Avontuurlijk toerisme met hondesledes en sneeuwscooters in Québec, Canada. Initiatie tochten, excursies, raids en expedities met hondensledes in de Saguenaystreek en in het Hoge Noorden, op de James Baai en de Hudson Baai, in Canada.

Les Chiens et Gîte du Grand Nord hebben zich gespecialiseerd in excursies, raids en expedities met sledehonden in volledige autonomie met of zonder wintercamping naargelang het gekozen trajekt. U zal zelf uw slede met poolhonden besturen, voor hen zorgen en een vriendschappelijke band mee ontwikkelen

De noorderlijke bossen, de taiga, de sneeuw, poedersneeuw en de uitgestrekte vlaktes: meerdere elementen die een indrukwekkende stempel drukken.

Alle paden, rivieren en meren die we verkennen, hetzij aangedamd, hetzij ongerept zijn een uitdaging en zullen u bevoorrechte ogenblikken bezorgen.

Ervaren gidsen nemen u mee tijdens onze activiteiten : sneeuwscooter,
sneeuwraket stappen en trappen, ijsvissen, hondenslee tochten en wintercamping. Tijdens deze activiteiten zal voor elk van jullie een onbekende wereld opengaan met uitzonderlijke sensaties dankzij onvergetelijke momenten.

Our Story!

The company Les Chiens du Grand Nord began its activities in Europe in 1987, specializing in dog sledding adventures.

In 1995, they moved to Canada (Nl) and became Les Chiens et Gîte du Grand Nord, specializing in winter adventure tourism in Quebec. We now offer a range of activities, including snowmobiling, snowshoeing, winter camping, Hudson Bay and James Bay dogsled trips, as well as dinner and overnight stays in cozy traditional log cabins.

Our adventure packages are tailor-made to fit your requirements and usually take place from mid-November till the end of April. We can provide you with further information, documentation and photographs upon request.

All our activities are facilitated by a competant and dynamic team of professionals who have worked in the European and Canadian tourist industries since 1988.

All our guides have been trained in adventure tourism and are equipped with the skills necessary for your health and safety: CPR, advanced first aid for remote areas, forest survival, chart and compass orienteering, as well as the use of GPS.

Guides are equipped with satellite telephones for emergency use on all dog sledding and snowmobiling excursions. In addition, all our packages of two or more days are sold with AIR MEDIC insurance - an emergency airlift insurance designed for isolated regions.

The company "Les Chiens et Gîte du Grand Nord " was certified by the Bureau of Standardization of Quebec (BNQ) in February 2004 for Nature and Adventure Tourism. This certification is the highest standard of quality put in place by the Quebec Tourist Industry. The company has also received a number of prizes and awards of excellence.
