Ter Zaele nestles amidst a typical landscape, some 4 km from nearby beaches and sanddunes, 6 km from Uilenspiegels' Damme, and from the typical Dutch border town of Sluis. Historic Brugge is only 10 km away, while Ghent lies 50 km away and both Antwerp and Brussels each some 100 km. The channel tunnel at Calais is 150 km by motorway via Brugge.
