The country offers an unusual experience of travel and adventure.
Visiting Jordan equals a trip to the roots of Mediterranean culture. Inhabited since prehistoric times by many people who settled along the banks of the Jordan River, the country was a land of passage of the greatest civilizations – Egyptians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Byzantines. This is where Christ was baptized, and where Abraham and Moses went as well as armies of crusaders and pilgrims.
Jordan keeps a historical and archaeological heritage of extraordinary richness. Petra, the ancient capital of Nabatean culture, is a rock-carved rose-red city. In Jordan, one can see the Byzantine mosaics of Madaba, the castles of Omayyad caliphs and the Roman ruins of Jerash, the Crusades’ stronghold.
